We checked every pick against its live Amazon.in listing on 26 September 2026: price, star rating, rating count and stock. We dropped anything above ₹500 and one food hamper whose latest reviews reported mouldy items. Where a listing has a real weakness (thin paper, colour fading, wax candles), the pick says so.
Diwali gifts for friends under 500: sweets and chocolates
Ferrero Rocher Moments, 16 Pieces (92.8 g)
Sixteen hazelnut chocolates in a gold box that looks pricier than it is. It is the safest pick here for a friend whose taste you do not know well. Chocolate melts, so order early and hand it over the same week it arrives.
Cadbury Celebrations Premium Selections, 232 g
A mixed box of Cadbury bars (Dairy Milk Crackle, Fruit and Nut, 5 Star 3D and more) for visiting a home with kids and adults. The box is large, so it looks generous on a tray of Diwali gifts.
Haldiram's Kaju Katli, 200 g
The one traditional sweet on the list. Kaju katli is a Diwali staple, and Haldiram's is a familiar name. Buyer reviews are mixed on freshness (4.0 stars across 1,453 ratings), so check the packed-on date when it lands.
Diwali gifts for neighbours under 500: diyas and home decor
Collectible India Ganesha Diya Oil Lamp (gold finish)
A small Ganesha diya that goes straight into a puja shelf. Any household that celebrates Diwali can use it, so it works when you gift a whole lane. Some buyers doubt the material is brass, so present it as a decorative lamp, not a puja heirloom.
Homesake Mosaic Glass Tealight Holders, Pack of 2
Two coloured mosaic glass holders that glow when a tealight goes in. It is an Amazon Choice listing with 4.3 stars across 3,706 ratings. Use LED tealights for flats with kids or pets.
eCraftIndia Handcrafted Door and Wall Hanging Bells
A colourful hanging of bells and beads for a door, window or balcony. It is the cheapest decor pick on this list and among the most reviewed (6,684 ratings). A few buyers report the colour fading, so it is best for indoor doorways.
Sanvatsar Decorative Diya Set of 4, Red
Four flower-styled diyas with tealights, so one box splits neatly between two households or sits as a full table set. Reviews mention that some beads can come loose, so handle it gently while wrapping.
Diwali gifts for kids under 500: colouring kits, pads and lamps
Cello ColourUp Hobby Bag Colouring Kit
Oil pastels, jumbo crayons, sketch pens, gel pens, clay strips and an activity book in a backpack. It costs the most on the list at ₹450 and packs six kinds of supplies for a child aged 5 to 10. One recent buyer received it with items missing, so open the bag before you wrap it.
Portronics Ruffpad 8.5-inch LCD Writing Pad
A reusable LCD slate with a stylus that erases at a button press. At ₹142 it is the cheapest pick here. One limit to know: the button clears the whole screen, not one line.
Toy Imagine Star Master Galaxy Night Projector Lamp
A rotating projector that throws stars and moon patterns on the ceiling; it runs on USB or four AAA batteries. It is an It is an Amazon Choice listing. The plastic build is light, so it suits ages 4 and up rather than rough handling.
Wonder House Colouring Books, Pack of 12
Twelve slim copy-colour books of animals, vehicles and everyday objects for ages 3 to 5. Buy it in bulk to cover several small cousins. Paper is thin, so it suits crayons better than markers.
Diwali gifts for relatives under 500: something for the adults
Parker Vector Camouflage Roller Ball Pen Gift Set
A Parker roller ball pen with a spare cartridge and a keychain in a gift box. It suits an uncle, a father-in-law or a cousin starting a job, and the brand does the talking. The price shown is the live price at check time and has moved between ₹363 and ₹450.
AuraDecor Fragrance Heat Diffuser Gift Set, Lavender
A ceramic diffuser with two tealights and a 10 ml lavender oil in a ready-to-gift box. It is the cheapest gift in this section and looks more expensive than it is. It is an Amazon Choice listing, but it has fewer ratings (306) than the bigger brands.
Handmade 7-Piece Pink Lotus Rangoli Diya Set
Six wooden lotus cutouts and a centre piece that make a ready rangoli with tealights. It saves time on Diwali evening, which is the real gift. Use LED tealights: one reviewer reported the wooden cutouts catching fire from the included wax candles.
Frequently asked questions
What can I gift for Diwali under 500?

From this guide, the Portronics Ruffpad (₹142) and the eCraftIndia hanging bells (₹199) are under ₹200. The AuraDecor diffuser set (₹210) and the Haldiram's kaju katli (₹220) sit just above it. Prices were live when checked and can change.
What is a good Diwali gift for friends?
Sealed chocolates work best: Ferrero Rocher Moments (₹269) or the Cadbury Celebrations Premium Selections box (₹275). Kaju katli (₹220) suits friends who prefer traditional sweets.
What is a good Diwali gift for neighbours?
Decor that goes on display straight away: a Ganesha diya, mosaic tealight holders or a set of four diyas. Buy several of the same item so nobody on your lane gets a gift of different value.
How do I make a cheap Diwali gift look premium?
Pick a sealed branded box, add a handwritten card and wrap it in one plain colour. Ferrero, Cadbury and Parker gifts already come boxed, so the only work left is the card.
Are the prices in this guide final?
No. They are the live Amazon.in prices seen on 26 September 2026. Festive sales change prices during the day, so confirm the price on the product page before you buy.
Should I use real candles in the diyas and rangoli sets?
Use LED tealights where kids or pets are around. Two picks here (the lotus rangoli set and the glass tealight holders) carry reviews about wax candles, wooden cutouts or hot glass, so LED is the safer default.
